Our Mission

The Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) is committed to supporting and generating interest in independent documentary films. The annual festival presents a snapshot of the cultural landscape through the year’s best non-fiction storytelling, connecting filmmakers with eager audiences and industry representatives to discuss documentary film as an art form, a catalyst for change and as an outlet for the independent voice.

The 5th Annual Camden International Film Festival will take place from October 1st - 4th, 2009, screening the best international documentary film to audiences in venues throughout Midcoast Maine.

CIFF Partners with Wicked Delicate

When Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis (King Corn, The Greening of Southie) graduated from college seven years ago, they decided to make a documentary. The only problem was, they'd never picked up a video camera. If you're in the same position, join Ian and Curt—and a team of accomplished filmmakers and distribution experts—for a 3-day crash course designed to give first-time documentarians the knowledge they need to get off to a great start. This course will take place from September 4 - 7, 2009 in Waldoboro, Maine and is offered in partnership with Maine's leading indie documentary showcase, the Camden International Film Festival. Space is limited, so sign up now! For more information, visit Wicked Delicate.

The grants aims to develop Maine communities through arts and culture. We couldn't be more honored for the recognition and to have this opportunity to strengthen our organization and expand our programs. Thanks MAC!

Feedback

A boutique festival, the Camden International Film Festival takes the stress, chaos and frenzy out of the festival experience. It is what a great festival should be: fascinating films, crisp sea air, bustling cafe/bookstores, theaters with balconies and velvet seats, and enthusiastic audiences with smart questions. I have already marked my calendar for next year.
